Burchett Continues to Take Campaign to the Voter - Knocks on more than 3000 Doors February 1, 2010 (Knoxville, TN) Wearing boots and a Carhartt jumpsuit, Knox County mayoral candidate Tim Burchett carried his campaign to the snow covered neighborhoods of Halls on Saturday where he spoke with voters one-on-one about their concerns and vision for Knox County. It was here that he knocked on his 3,000th door since beginning his grassroots focused campaign last summer.
"When I started going around the county meeting with voters it was over 90 degrees and I would pass people mowing their lawns. Today, I'm walking up snowy sidewalks," Burchett said.
Burchett added, "One thing that has not changed though is that voter after voter stresses one underlying hope for Knox County Government. They want a mayor they can trust and who is committed to restoring real transparency. They understand that tough decisions will have to be made by the next mayor and they want to know these decisions are going to be based on what's best for the people and not the politicians. I could not agree with them more."
As a State Senator, Burchett has earned a reputation as a leader the voters can trust and he will bring this same focused commitment to honest straightforward leadership to the mayor's office on day one.
Burchett is seeking the Republican nomination for Knox county mayor in the May 4, 2010 primary. Early voting starts April 14. Individuals interested in helping the Burchett campaign should visit www.electburchett.com.
