Burchett Taps Veteran Campaign Advisor to Head Campaign Team
October 20, 2009
(Knoxville, TN) Knox County mayoral candidate State Senator Tim Burchett announced today that he has named Dean Rice as his campaign’s Senior Campaign Advisor.

Rice has served in leadership positions in multiple campaigns in Tennessee, Washington, DC and South Carolina over the past 15 years including those of former U.S. Senators Fred Thompson and Elizabeth Dole and U.S. Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. Rice recently served as Chief of Transition for the Tennessee Republican Party and is a founding partner in Pratt, Pratt & Rice, Inc., a Tennessee-based government relations and communications firm. Rice also serves as campaign treasurer for Congressman Duncan and was recently named to the Washington-based American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL).

In addition to his political experience, Rice has worked on federal policy and legislation for both former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson and Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. His areas of focus have included the federal budget, energy, science and technology, homeland security and national defense.

In making the announcement, Burchett said, “Dean brings a great deal of experience to the table both in terms of political campaigns and policy development, but just as importantly he is a friend whose judgment I trust,” said Burchett.

Rice said, “Tim is without a doubt the right person to lead this county. He has tremendous experience and is known by everyone for his straightforward honest style of leadership. That is exactly what Knox County needs right now and I am excited to be a part of his campaign. I am proud to call him a friend and look forward to calling him Mayor.”

Rice will be serving the Burchett campaign in a consulting capacity. Burchett is seeking the Republican nomination for county mayor in the May 4, 2010 primary. Early voting starts April 14.
